Commonwealth Bank

Agentic payment-dispute tool

A bounded, rules-heavy operations agent — the kind of work community banks can actually copy.

What it does

CommBank’s Dan Jermyn has publicly discussed an agentic tool that handles payment disputes. PCBB flagged dispute work in January 2026 as a high-confidence near-term use for community institutions because the rule set is well-defined and the error modes are predictable.

Architecture

Channel → dispute specialist → core/payments tools → four-eyes on exceptions. Not a general assistant.

Evidence

Evident “Banks go agentic”; Open Banking Tracker (May 2026) on dispute-resolution as a near-term use.

Caveat

CommBank has not published a containment rate or dollar recovery figure for this tool in the sources used here.
